Run Leaders (LiRF)

A number of our regular Run Leaders have completed the England Athletic Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) qualification. If you’d like to find out more about LiRF and what it entails then please take a look at the information from the UK Athletics Training page.

If you are interested in completing your LiRF training and leading runs at Striders then do get in touch with our coaching co-ordinator.

Our current LiRF leaders are:

Dave Robson

Phil Connor

philconnorPhil Connor works as a senior specialist exercise rehabilitation instructor for south Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, delivering programmes for respiratory, stroke and cardiac patients. Has been a member of Elvet Striders for 3 years now and has a great deal of experience of racing over a variety of distances.  Phil’s favourite running quote is “Head down let the legs and feet do the talking”.

Joanne Patterson and Kay Cairns

This is such a lovely photo of Jo (left) and Kay (right) after their first Great North Run that we decide to picture them together!

Kay  completed LiRF in December 2015 as part of the County Durham Sport workplace running group project so she could lead C25K groups in the workplace and encourage more people to take up running for pleasure. Kay is also one of Elvet Striders Mental Health Ambassadors.
